The Zondervan Publishing House was founded in 1931 in Grandville, Michigan, a suburb of Grand Rapids, by brothers Bernie and P.J. (Pat) Zondervan.

While Zondervan remains a major Christian book and Bible publisher, they are no longer in the music business.

Singspiration, the former music publishing arm of Zondervan, was headed by well-known Christian composer John W. Peterson for many years, and is now a part of Provident Music’s Brentwood-Benson Music Publishing.

Zondervan was in the Christian record business with it’s Zondervan and Zondervan Victory labels in the 60s, the Singcord label in the 70s, and Milk & Honey in the 80s.
