In the later ‘60s, it was
Tim Spencer
who, recognizing
Andrae Crouch
’s potential not only as a songwriter but also a
vocalist, introduced him to
Light Records
president
Ralph Carmichael
, who signed Andrae to a contract and released his
first nationally-distributed album, followed by many others.
In 1969, Tim’s son,
Hal Spencer
became president and CEO of Manna Music.
Manna Music
today administers copyrights for the hymn “
How Great Thou Art
” by Stuart K. Hine and many other songs written by
the above mentioned composers and others (
see top 50 songs published by Manna Music
).
MANNA RECORDS
In the early ‘70s,
Manna Music
began producing record albums on the
Manna Records
label by artists such as
Andrew Culverwell
,
Johnny Zell
(trumpet soloist on the Lawrence Welk show),
Lillie Knauls
,
Ralph Carmichael
and others.
