History:
With only $500 in hand to start his new business,
Jim Van Hook opened the doors to Brentwood Music in 1981. Within a few
years time, he turned his investment into a multi-million dollar
corporation. By the mid-1990s the company had grown into a $19 million
corporation.
New York-based Zomba Music Group, the world's
largest independent music company, purchased Brentwood Music in1994.
In June 1997, the capital-infused company had
greatly expanded through the purchases of The Benson Music Group and
Reunion Records. This massive growth prompted the establishment of
Provident Music Group to more adequately umbrella the corporation's
many facets, including its publishing arm, Brentwood-Benson Music
Publishing.
Brentwood Records’ concept recordings
include the Smoky Mountain Series, the Besides Still Waters series
featuring the Don Marsh Orchestra with the Panpipes, and the America's
25 series.
